The Faculty Board wishes to announce that nominations for the recipient of 2023's honorary doctorate are now being accepted. The honorary doctorate will be awarded at the Commencement Ceremony on 10 February 2023 and university staff and students (through SöderS) are welcome to submit their nominations by 31 May. One or more honorary doctorates have been awarded at the university's Commencement Ceremonies since 2013.

According to the rules, honorary doctorates may be awarded to:

• A person who has completed a doctoral degree and who has significantly promoted research, education or collaboration at the university.
• A person who by virtue of other, non-academic, outstanding merits and contributions within arts and culture, public education, pedagogy, civil society, business or the public sector has been important to and provided inspiration for the university's research, education or collaboration.

It is beneficial if the nominee:

• Confirms and strengthens Södertörn University’s vision and ethos.
• Has collaborated with Södertörn University.

The recipients of Södertörn University's honorary doctorates were mainly active in Europe at the time of the award. We welcome nominees from a wider geographic area.

How to nominate

Please submit your nominees for an honorary doctorate by 31 May 2022, by emailing a nomination text (one page maximum) to the Faculty Board (fakultetsnamnden@sh.se), which will then decide a ranking list. The nominations are confidential until a decision is made, the nominee has accepted and a communication plan has been formulated.
