You will recently have received an email from the vice-chancellor with an invitation to 2023’s Commencement Ceremony and staff party. The ceremony and the party will once again be combined, but in a slightly different format to previous years.

The formal ceremony in the auditorium starts the festivities. On leaving the auditorium, you will receive drink vouchers, as the university is providing two glasses of beer or wine. Dinner is a lactose-free and gluten-free vegetarian buffet, for which you can choose meat as an extra option when signing up, if you wish.

As space is somewhat limited, and there are security and evacuation requirements, some compromises have been made so that as many staff as possible can attend and enjoy a pleasant evening together. One of these compromises is that dinner will be eaten at standing tables, but with seats available for people with special requirements. After dessert and coffee, there will be dancing to live music and the bar is open until 22.30. The party ends at 23.00.

Professorial lectures

Don’t forget to book 10 February in your diary… and add 8 February. This is when 2003’s SH Talks will be held, where the new professors will provide short lectures about their research. Take the chance to gain insight into different subjects. The professors’ day will conclude with an unusual form of lecture by the recipient of Södertörn’s honorary doctorate.
