Entering retirement
The retirement age is 65, but you are entitled to work until you turn 69. You should plan your retirement in good time and have a dialogue with your manager.
Applying for your pension
Well in advance of turning 65, Statens tjänstepensionsverk (SPV) will send you some documents. Once you have filled in all the forms, your manager must sign the form called “Uppsägning på grund av pensionsavgång” (notice of termination due to retirement). Send the forms to HR at least four months before the day on which you wish to retire.
HR processes the case and forwards it to SPV, who ensure that your occupational pension starts being paid to you.
Things to think about before your retirement
SPV has compiled information to consider before retiring.
Do you want to take early retirement?
You can retire once you have turned 62. If you wish to do this, you must contact SPV. Otherwise, see the above information.
Do you want to delay your retirement?
You can remain employed until you turn 69.
The application procedure is the same as the above.
If you have not given notice by the time you turn 69, the employer will terminate your employment. However, you must apply for your occupational pension yourself.
Partial retirement
If you were born before 1966 and are employed more than half time (50%), you can apply for partial retirement aged 61–65.
If you are younger than this, there will be similar opportunities available through a scheme called “ålderspension flex”.
