Changing or ending your employment

Ending your employment
If you are going to hand in your notice, you must do so in writing.
Your period of notice depends on how long you have been employed:
- If you have been employed for a maximum of one year, the period of notice is one month.
- If you have been employed for a more than one year, the period of notice is two months.
- If you are on a probationary period, you can terminate it at any time.
- If you are a manager working under a management agreement (chefsavtal), the period of notice is six months.
If your duties permit, your manager may approve a shorter period of notice.
Instructions:
Fill in the form "Begäran om att anställningen ska upphöra" (Request for termination of employment). The form is in Swedish.
Send the signed form to the central records officer: Internal post to: Registrator, MA 8 or external post to: Södertörns högskola, Registrator, 141 89 Huddinge.
The central records officer registers the case and sends the form to your manager. You will then receive a signed copy of the decision.
Naturally, it is a good idea for you to talk to your manager well in advance of this.
Fixed-term employment
If you are in fixed-term employment, this ends automatically at the end of your contract.
A fixed-term contract can be terminated prematurely by the employer, but only on what are considered to be objective grounds under the Swedish Employment Protection Act, that is a lack of work, or circumstances personally attributable to the employee.
