Södertörn University’s external website has new menus and a new structure. The aim is to make it easier for everyone to find the right information, whether staff, students or visitors. The menus have become more visual and thematic, and some pages have been merged or renamed to increase clarity.
Since it was launched in 2019, the website has expanded and become increasingly comprehensive. We have reviewed its structure, so some pages have been merged, renamed or moved. The menus are now more visual and thematic, and work better – even in a mobile phone. Our aim has been to achieve clearer, more user-friendly navigation.

Each category has several subheadings – just click on the plus sign to expand the pages.
How and why?
Extensive work on these changes began in autumn 2024, when the unit for Communication and PR held a workshop to review the structure and user-friendliness of some areas of the website. This had been preceded by external monitoring, as well as continuous user surveys of staff and students. The steering committee for website development has also participated.
“We wanted to create a menu structure that more clearly reflects both our activities and our target groups in a clearer way. This has been painstaking work, with input from throughout the university,” says Kenneth Wall, Director of Communications at Södertörn University. It has also been a time-consuming task; each menu category and every page placement are the result of careful consideration.
What happens next?
Currently, the menu categories that have new or merged pages are Meet Södertörn University, Research and Library. Work on the pages included under Student will begin in the near future. This is also being accompanied by extensive work on improvements to the Student Portal.
Work on developing and improving the website is ongoing, and feedback is welcome.
